GAME OF THRONES is coming to an end next year with the upcoming airing of its climactic eighth season – but has filming already finished for the cast?

While some fans of Game of Thrones are busy theorising about what is to come in the final season of the hit HBO show, others have been closely observing the sets.

Recently there were reports of filming around a fiery set, which hinted at the final battle including Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

New images have now surfaced from website Winter Is Coming, and Twitter account A Red Priestess – who are both renowned for showcasing images of the show’s sets.

The images include large structures mirroring those of the show’s set in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

One image also shows a large green-screen structure which has taken shape of a dragon.

However the most interesting piece of information is the caption accompanying the photo which reads: “I don’t know who’s here.

“But rumour has it Kit [Harington] will wrap up on Wednesday and Maisie [Williams] on Friday.”

She ominously finished her tweet: “It all ends next week.”

If a collection of the actors are set to finish filming next week, the show could be nearing the end of its filming stage.

But does this hint that the final scenes of the show will include Jon Snow and a dragon?

Also, could this mean that the show will spend the remainder of the time between now and its airing editing the footage.Game of Thrones jon snow sansa stark

However the tweet only mentioned Kit and Maisie, who plays Arya Stark – so could other actors still be hard at work filming?

As most of Kings’ Landing is filmed in Croatia, Cersei Lannister actress Lena Headey may not see the end of her job for some time.

These images follow Sansa Stark actress Sophie Turner speaking out about the final season.

Speaking to Gold Derby, she said: “I can tell you that there’s definitely a coming together of people.

“Everyone is coming together to fight the impending doom.Game of Thrones daenerys targaryen

“There’s a lot of tension between these little groups, battling for what they think is right.”

She went on to add: “It’s Game of Thrones, so it’s going to be bloodier and more death and more emotionally torturous than all the years before!”

As fans know, the scripts for the show are strictly kept secret to each of the cast.

With this in mind, does Sophie’s knowledge of more death and emotional turmoil hint that her character will see some of it first hand?

Game of Thrones season 8 will return to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2019. Seasons 1-7 are currently streaming on NOW TV.
