Argentina football legend, Diego Maradonahas been stripped off his Fifa ambassadorship role over his provocative behaviour during the match against Nigeria. Maradona had been The deal involved Maradona being paid  over 10,000 pounds plus other expenses to make per public appearances at stadiums during the world cup.

Maradona had celebrated Argentine’s second goal by raising his middle finger at fans who were trolling him when the score was at 1-1 draw.

FIFA considered his behaviour embarrassing and hence he will no longer be entitled to receive payments from the world soccer governing body for bringing the spotlight to any world cup match he witnessed live.

Responding to the claims of racism, Maradona said he was speaking to an ‘Asian boy’ he saw in an Argentina shirt. He did receive an official invitation to Nigeria’s Match against Iceland, after which he was forced to apologize for smoking and also made an alleged racist gesture towards South Korean fans in which he pulled his eyes to the sides.
